November 12, 2001, Abu Dhabi~The Emirates Equestrian Federation has made it mandatory for all competing horses to be micro-chipped from January 1, 2012.
The EEF had changed the regulations relating to micro-chipping from April 2010, for all horses competing in either FEI or National events supervised by the Federation. This step was taken to standardise the micro-chipping of horses and to ensure that all these horse are registered with the Federation.
In order to further strengthen this, the EEF has decided that from January 1, 2012, all horses newly registered with the FEI and EEF must be micro-chipped with a micro chip compatible with ISO 11784 and ISO 11785. All microchip information must be entered in the horse’s passport.
