10 Mi. Fun Ride  –    25 Mi. –    50 Mi. Competitions

May 14th and 15th, 2011

Location:  Bush Intercontinental Airport

The 10 mile Fun Ride is for those that would like to find out more about the sport of Endurance or just get out and enjoy the beautiful airport trails, or explore becoming an AIRPORT RANGER, and be part of the “SADDLE UP” FOR ST. JUDE!.

The airport trails provide sandy trails with some wooded and open areas. The terrain is flat to gently rolling. Trails will take yo through wooded areas, clearings, bayou crossings. Road crossings are minimal and will be monitored by Law Enforcement. The Airport system will provide water on trail. Trail surface is mostly natural grass with some sandy areas and if it rains some mud.

Houston Intl Airport is located on the North side of Houston, TX. We will be camping at the North Trailhead located at 5100 FM1960. Watch for the signage for the horse parking. There is plenty of room for all sizes of rigs, camping and horse pens

Endurance riding is an athletic event for both horse and rider.  The goal is to complete the marked trail within the time given with a horse that is fit to continue. Rain or shine the ride goes on.  All horses must pass a complete vet check before, during and after the ride.  Remember –“TO FINISH IS TO WIN”
