August 13 FRANKFURT, Germany~ After successfully hosting the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup in the German capital Berlin, three weeks ago, the stage has been set to host it in Frankfurt on Sunday, August 14.
This is the second year in a row, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahant Cup is being held at the Frankfurt Racecourse, having made its debut here in August 2010.
The Listed race will be run over 1600 meters and Euros 15,000 is on offer.
Leading the race in the five-horse field is Naseem, owned by Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and the three-year-old will be ridden by Alexandre Gavilan. Thakif, to be ridden by Charles Nora, is another Sheikh Mansoor-owned horse. Magua DA, HN Mira and Mietkes Nanu are the three other horses, entered in the nine-race card of the day.
Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director of Communications of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) said, “This is the second time, this year, another German city is becoming a venue for the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup. The Festival of Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival is all about promoting the Purebred Arabian horses and we are keen to be part of this initiative. We will continue to provide the Festival with all the support it needs to grow bigger and better.”
Ms Lara Sawaya, Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival said: “Following the tremendous success in Berlin, the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup race is returning to Frankfurt.”
“We are here for the third year after the Zayed the First Cup and Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup. Last year onwards it has been elevated to a Listed race status. We are happy to be here as Germany has a strong tradition in Purebred Arabian horse and there are many Arabian racing fans.”

The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival is organised by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) and co-ordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Arabian Horse Society with support from Invest AD, Areej Al Ameerat, La Sirene, the UAE’s General Women’s Union, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2011, Wathba Stud Farm and Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
