Al Mizan, Majd Al Uraiq win Qatar March end racing week

March 28, Doha ~ Loyalty Cup Day at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) where Trainer  Jassim Al Ghazali won five races including the feature event – Loyalty Cup (Thoroughbred Stakes) during the 47th race meeting.

Ohud, Al Mizan and Elwazeer won the third, fourth and fifth races, showing his Thoroughbred training to be as solid as the Arabian. Later Al Muthanaa and Clean Bowled completed back-to-back successes in seventh and eighth races to cap a memorable day for Al Ghazali.

Jockey Yanis Aouabed completed  his double by riding home Ohud and Al Mizan. Ohud won the Local Thoroughbred Handicap race for horses rated 50 and below.

Al Mizan  Vert Duzan x Nevada De Cardonne)  took the top honours in the Pure Arabian Restricted Stakes. Richard Mullen piloted Elwazeer to the Thoroughbred Handicap race win for horses rated 70 to 90.

Gerald Avranche took Al Muthanaa to Thoroughbred Handicap race victory for horses rated 85 and above. Al Muthanaa won in one minute and 22.06 seconds. In this contest, the first four slots belonged to Al Ghazali. Abeer, Collect Art and Gojeri were second, third and fourth respectively.

Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi’s Majd Al Uraiq won the opening race – Pure Arabian Maiden Plate (three-year-olds only) over 1,200 metres. Sylvain Ruis took Majd Al Uraiq (Majd Al Arab x Mezooh) to victory.

Baroud Al Zaeem ( Baroud De Cardonne x Megadeer Al Shaqab) with Salim Golam astride won the Local Bred Pure Arabian Maiden Plate. Mutazz was second followed by Shadeed Al Hana.

March 27, 2013, Doha ~Al Shahania Cup Day at the Qatar Equestrian and Racing Club

Barq Al Naif Amer – Issada De Carrere hit his stride, taking his second win of the year under jockey Mark Lawson in the P/A restricted Stakes, 1100m race. He took the win in the time of 01:12:02 for trainer, Al Malki. Ziraya was second  and Giude Al Khal in for third.

Earlier, in the L/PHandicap, it was Umm Qarn’s, Waddah (Nizam -x Al Hanoof) under David Bouland that won the skirmish by a neck from Al Mostarsil under Marvin Suerland. Haizum came home a good six lengths in the rear.
