Prize Fund: £20,000, Entries close at 12noon (GMT) on Wednesday 4 July
Al Shahania Stud has once again shown support for Arabian Racing in Europe with their kind and generous sponsorship of a new international conditions race to be held at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday 14 July.
This 10 furlong contest has been put on at Newbury to replace the lost Group opportunity for Purebred Arabian horses, 4 years old and upwards, that were previously targeting the Harwood International Stakes at Newmarket.
The Al Thani stable and Al Shahania Stud have enjoyed a very successful racing season in the UK to date. Mu’Azzaz took home the spoils in a recent running of the Hawthorn Hill International Stakes (Group 2 PA) also at Newbury and over the same distance. In 2011, trainer Julian Smart prepared several top classes horses at Lambourn, just 19 miles from the Dubai Day track, before heading to France to finish 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the Qatar Arabian World Cup at Longchamp.
This new race boosts an attractive prize fund of £20,000 and is set to take place on the same day as the ultra-competitive Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury. In addition, this raceday features a further Group 3 and Listed event for Thoroughbreds. It is hoped that by introducing a race at this prestigious fixture, owners can enjoy 2 days of top class Arabian & Thoroughbred action; firstly at Newmarket on Friday 13 July for The President of the UAE Cup, and after at Newbury for The Al Shahania Stud International Stakes on Saturday 14 July.
