Alban de Mieulle hot in Qatar

December 26, 2012, Doha ~ The best of the Purebred Arabian action in Doha December 26 was also a fine day for trainer, Alban de Mieulle – winning three races for Umm Qarn including the feature, Qatar Derby Group 2, International with prize money of QR 250,000. Muntasar (Majd Al Arab x Danie Du Cassou) led the pack home in this 1600m race by 1 1/2 lengths under David Bouland in a time of 1:45:18. Umm Qarn and De Mieulle also won the Local Bred Pure Arabian Restricted Stakes with the filly, Shakeemah( Amer x Zibieh) ridden by Bouland. Their third triumph saw Dharr (Nizam x Djelmila) take the Pure Arabian Stakes under Pat Convertino with ten horses in the fray.

The fourth Arabian race, the 3 Year Old Derby, was won by the Burning Sand colt, La Hoor, owned and trained by Hassan Al Matwi and ridden by Mark Lawson, making his 2012 record 5 races and 4 wins. His winning time was 1:45:49 for the 1600m ride.


The December 27, Qatar Oaks Grade 2 was won by the Julian Smart trained, Mkeefa, and ridden to victory by Richard Mullen in a time of 02:17:25.

It was Fouladh, De Mieulle and Bouland again to win in the fifth race in a time of 02:13:99. De Mieulle was again   the winning trainer for race seven with Tabarak with Pat Convertino in the saddle.
