For 27 years, the integrity of the Darley Awards nominating process has been of utmost importance to the Arabian Racing Cup program. While reviewing the nominations to the eleven categories that honor the best in Arabian racing in the U.S., an error in the statistical analysis for the 2013 Horse of the Year category was discovered. Based on this information, the Cup Stewards determined a re-vote for the nominees in this specific category was the best course for correcting this unprecedented situation.
Upon the re-vote, the following horses are named 2013 Horse of the Year nominees: DHAAN, GRILLA, SMOKE HOUSE, SO BIG IS BETTER, and VALIANT BOY SBFAR.
Sponsored by the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival, the 2013 US champions will be named at the Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley Awards Hollywood 2014 celebration, often referred to as the “Oscars of Arabian racing”, to be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California on the evening of April 4, 2014.
Chartered in 1983, the Arabian Racing Cup is a nonprofit corporation founded by Dr. Sam Harrison and directed by its Board of Stewards. The Cup is dedicated to the international promotion of Arabian racing, and in 2012, joined together with the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival to promote this prestigious Darley Awards event.
Supported by an extensive list of international sponsors, the Darley Awards are under the direction of Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the Festival, and organized by Arabian Racing Cup, the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, coordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in association with International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities, Emirates Racing Authority, Emirates Arabian Horse Society, and supported by General Authority of Youth & Sports Welfare.
