Press Release July 18, 2012, Wilmington, Del.~Acting upon the recommendation of the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission Chief Veterinarian Dr. John T. Peters, live racing scheduled for today, July 18, has been cancelled, due to the excessive heat. Peters said racing under such conditions would pose substantial health risks to horses, riders and participants.
This is the second time in a month that races have cancelled at the Delaware track. On July 7 another heat-wave caused the cancellation of races on that day.
Live racing is expected to resume tomorrow, July 19.
