8 June 2016, UK ~The Arabian Racing Organization (ARO) announced that nine runners have been declared for the DIAR Premier Handicap Stakes to be run at Chepstow on Friday 10 June. It is the second of four UK preparatory races leading up to the Arabian Racing Organization’s (ARO) season highlight, Dubai International Arabian Races, staged at Newbury on 24 July.
First run at Chepstow in 2015, the mile and a half event is a true test of stamina. A horse that finishes in the first three of this long race or another of the designated warm-up races (see below dates) and goes on to win one of the bonus races on 24 July will receive additional prize money. The DIAR committee inaugurated the scheme last year with the addition of preparatory races to the DIAR calendar which now include races in Italy, France, Holland and Sweden, bringing the entire 2016 DIAR program to 24 races, including 10 at Group or Listed level.
The bonus races on July 24 are headed by the Shadwell Dubai International Stakes (Gr1PA), the Dubai Duty Free Hatta International Stakes (Gr1 PA), the Emirates Equestrian Federation International Stakes (Gr2PA) and the Rotana Resorts and Hotels Premier Handicap Stakes (UK domestic horses only).
ARO Racing Manager Amanda Smith said. “ARO welcomes the addition of the warm-up races both at an International level and also domestically, as this race supports our UK trained horses. It is encouraging to see last year’s winner Kamikaze line up to defend his title.”
