Farraaha and Dahash dazzle in Doha

smFARRAHAApril 4, 2013, Doha ~ Alban de Mieulle, fresh from his third finish triumph with Very Nice Name in the Dubai Sheema Classic, was back in the paddock at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, taking the win in the 1850m AL HUWAILA CUP with Farraaha (Amer x Moonlit) with David Bouland up. Around the back stretch Farraaha overtook the pace setter, Harrir, and with a final push, slipped past Damis in the lead. As the dust cleared, it was Farraaha, Damis, and Omaier, leaving Harrir in fourth. The winning time was 2:02:72.

April 3, 2013, Doha ~ Darren Williams piloted Dahash to a half-length victory in the Al Zubara Cup during the 48th race meeting held under the patronage of H. E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Bin Edi Al-Thani, Minister of State, at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club on April 3.

Mohammed Al Sulaiti trained Dahash (Amer -xTaraza) was in control of the race right through and completed a win in the Local Bred Pure Arabian Stakes contest over 1,900 metres won in a time of two minutes and 12.12 seconds. Ajab was second followed by Thumal Al Naif in the third position. When the nine horses were dispatched from the starting gates, it was Dahash that took the lead. Arkan Al Naif and Ajab were close to the leader. While the horses negotiated the final turn of New Rayyan track, Dahash increased speed and kept going towards the finish while the rest were left making a futile chase. It was the second win in a row for the Dahash.smDahashaward 6

It was a second win of the day for rider Williams as he had tasted success in the opening Pure Maiden Plate with the Julian Smart schooled  Jamra (Amer x Madjela).  The five year old mare won the 1,800-metre race in 02: 06.41. Vercors De Rovon and Ugo Des Vialettes were second and third respectively.

In the Local Bred Pure Arabian Handicap race for horses rated 40 and below, Mohammed Hamad Al Attiya nurtured Daiyala ( TH Richie -xAllez France) stood out with a three-length triumph over 1,800 metres. Jockey Marvin Suerland rode the winner.
