March 19m 2014, Doha ~ Hassan Al Matwi’s La Hoor (Burning Sand- Pettra) proved superior to the opposition while winning the Rodat Al Maida Cup, a Pure Arabian conditions race run over nine furlongs on Wednesday, March 19, on the sand track of the Racing and Equestrian Club in Doha. La Hoor under Gerald Avranche took control of the race from the rail and rode easily until the stretch where he put on the burners outdistancing the field and stablemate Majd Al Uraiq, finishing 2nd, by 2.5 lengths, giving owner/trainer, Hassan Al Matwi a double. Jelmud came third.
Hamad Bin Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Al Attiya owned Muhim (Amer-Temptayshuhn) clinched a thrilling victory in the Local Bred Pure Arabian Handicap for horses rated 0 to 50. Though Kafayef had stolen a march and looked set to land the spoils, Yanis Aouabed brought Muhim fair into contention with a brilliant stretch run. Ghazali trained Muhim quickly devoured ground and went past the front runner to win by half a length in an exciting finish.
