March Racing in Doha puts Mu’Azzaz in Winner’s Circle

March 21, 2013, Doha, Qatar ~ During the 45th meeting at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC), the H H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani owned Mu’Azzaz (Amer x Massamarie) captured the Group 3 Yousef Al Romaihi Cup  Pure Arabian Stakes in the time of 02:43:15 . The 9-year-old grey, trained by Julian Smart under jockey Marco Monteriso, bested Damis in 2nd and Raihan in third for the 2400m trip.

Earlier, the same duo of Smart and Monteriso brought Al Atique (Amer x Somra) into the winners’s circle in the Pure Arabian Conditions Race. Al Shahania swept the top three on this race with Djainka Des Forges in for second and Al Anga in third.Mu'azzaz 2

Trainer Jassim Al Ghazali registered the win for horses rated under 40-70 with  Safqah (Hatteen x Al Naamah) in the third race on the card, while Majd (Verglas x Jeux Sont Faits) won the 1400m Maiden Plate under Darren Williams in a field of 13.

March 20, 2013 , Doha, Qatar ~ It was a good day at the races for trainer Majid Safedeen, claiming back-to-back wins including the feature event, the TB Mesaimeer Cup during the QREC 44th race meeting.

Safedeen came through with Al Uraiq in the Local Bred Pure Arabian Stakes. Al Uraiq (Nizam – Ninou De Carrere) led the victory verdict by eight lengths guided by jockey Marco Monteriso. Laheeb Al Shahania was the distant second followed by Al Wasmiya for the 1,100 metres in 01:11:27.

This was just before the Safedeen schooled Itsher ran a top race in the Thoroughbred Stakes to beat the 12 other contenders easily in the Mesaimeer Cup, a 1,200-metre contest for QR 80,000.

Trainer Jassim Al Ghazali added one more win this season with Ninawa (Hatteen – Carthagena) claiming the Pure Arabian Handicap race for 40 and below under Sylvain Ruis. It was a comfortable two-length win in the 1,200-metre race with Khalfa coming second while Asad Al Shajaa was third.

Injaaz Stud’s Manjam(Hatteen x Quinquinna) captured the Local Bred Pure Arabian Maiden Plate with Andrew Elliot in the saddle. Manjam won by four lengths in a time of one minute and 13.83 seconds over 1,100 metres.
