April 23, 2013, Abu Dhabi ~ A 120-km Al Wathba Night Ride on Friday, April 26, will bring the curtain down on the endurance season at the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi.
Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club and Lara Sawaya, Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and Head of Ladies Racing in IFAHR jointly addressed a press conference at the Eastern mangroves Hotel on Tuesday afternoon announcing details of the event and other activities.
“This is the last ride of the 2012-13 season here at Al Wathba. The ride starts at 5.15 pm. The 120km will be run in four stages of 40km, 40km, 24km and 16kms. The winner will be awarded a 4WD car while the prize fund of Dh 450,000 will be distributed among all riders who complete the 120-km event,” detailed Al Nuaimi.
Ms Sawaya announced that the top three riders will be taken on a trip to Toulouse, France where the races of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival will be held May 4-6, 2013.
“These invited guests will watch the racing action and also see first hand all the preparations that are being undertaken for the World Arabian Racing Conference which will be held for the four year and in the month of June, 2013.”
The HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival is organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and co-ordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Racing Authority, IFAHR and Emirates Arabian Horse Society, supported by General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare and Fegentri with Emirates airlines as the official carrier and sponsored by Invest AD, Arabtec, Al Rashid Investment, Areej Al Ameerat, Al Awani General Enterprises, Kabale, the UAE’s General Women’s Union, the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2013, Dr. Nader Saab Switzerland, Wathba Stud Farm and Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
