Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club classic entries increase to 38

LOGOQREC2X1_WebSeptember 5, 2013, UK ~ The Arabian Racing Organization is happy to announce a strong field on tap for the September 14, Doncaster race. Four entries were added to the frame after Tuesday’s supplementary stage (3 September) for the Group 1 Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club Harwood International Stakes. Joining the 34 strong entries, including the world’s highest rated Purebred Arabians, Tabarak and Mkeefa, are four European entries.

Sivit Al Maury (FR) has been supplemented by French trainer Francois Rohaut following his Group 3 win at Dax, France, in May and was a fast finishing third behind entries Djet Taouy (FR) and Muntasar in the Group 1 President of the UAE Cup (UK Arabian Derby) at Newmarket’s 2013 July Meeting and looks to clash again with those rivals.

After an impressive win in the six furlong Group 1 Jebel Ali Racecourse Zaabeel International, Al Mouhannad, the Royal Cavalry of Oman filly trained by Christian Baillet, heads to Doncaster.

Dutch owner and trainer Mr H Otermans brings Poulain Kossack, the winner of last year’s Group 2 Qatar Cup at Longchamp and victorious in the listed Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nayhan Cup in Berlin earlier this year, along with  his half-brother, Phraseur Kossack, that has won three of his seven starts this year.

Staged under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohamed Bin Faleh Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) and promoted in conjunction with the Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO), the £150,000 event has attracted plenty of international entries representing seven countries, including four of the world’s top ten Purebred Arabians

Amanda Smith, Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) Racing Manager commented, “Following the supplementary stage, we are delighted that more trainers have decided to head to Doncaster for this valuable and important addition to the International Arabian Pattern. The race looks set to be an exciting addition to the St Leger Day at Doncaster.”

Declarations for the race will be made at 11am on Thursday, 12 September and will be posted on the ARO website shortly after.
