August 08, 2012, Deauville, France ~ Sporting the colours of HE Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani, Dahor De Brugère clinched the Al Rayyan Cup at Deauville racecourse in France on Tuesday. The Dahess progeny, Dahor De Brugere came with a spirited run in the final furlong to overhaul Mushrae in the shadow of the winning post to win by a neck in the Euros 50,000 contest. Munzade was a further four lengths behind Mushrae, while Vetlana De Faust took the fourth place.
The 2,000 metres race was reduced to seven runners as two other contenders from Qatar, La Hoor and Fayrouz were withdrawn from the contest.
This was the second victory for Dahor De Brugere in France as the champion had earlier won the Qatar Coupe De France Des Pur Sang Arabes at Chantilly.
The Al Rayyan Cup was the second event in a series of seven races sponsored by Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (REC) in France. The next event will be the Doha Cup which will be held at Deauville on August 11. This event is a Group I race for four and five year old Pure Arabians.
QREC racing secretary Tariq Al Siddiqui was present at the race meeting and presented the trophy to the winners.
