Shreak OA wins Wathba Stud Farm Cup VIII in The Netherlands

       September 8, 2012, Dundight ~ Shrek OA finally tasted success in eight starts when 4-year-old chestnut the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s VIII Al Wathba Stud Farm Cup race held in The Netherlands on Saturday, September 8.
The 1800-metre race, the 8th race in the Wathba Stud Farm Cup series to be held at the Duindigt race course in The Netherlands, drew a strong field of ten horses.
Shrek OA, owned by R.A.G Kolk and trained by Jan Pubben was given a perfect ride by jockey Toon van den Troost to finish ahead of Alligator Kossack under Berit Weber by half a length. In third place was the Karen van den Bos –trained Djetkan a full six lengths behind under jockey Raymond Chang.
It was Shrek OA’s eight run this season and the 4-year-old colt had finished second thrice and third once before finally getting past the winning post first.
“It is the 8th race held in Duindigt in The Netherlands and a strong field of ten runners reflects how successful the Wathba Stud Farm Cup race has become at the grass root level. The HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s next race will be held in Switzerland on September 15,” said Ms Lara Sawaya, Director ofthe HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival and head of IFAHR ladies racing.
