3 July 2015 Pleasanton, California ~ Opening the card and fresh from her historic win in the COBRA Distaff Sprint on 14 June at Arapahoe Park, Colorado, Ms Dixie makes her next run on 5 July at Oak Tree At Pleasanton in Northern California for the Quarter Moon Ranch. The seven-year old Burning Sand mare, the oldest runner, will look to match her 2014 win in this 6 Furlong race.

Sweden’s Rikke Torp has drawn Ms Dixie for the ride as lady jockeys will take the reins for the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Championship with a shot at the Championship title of this series. Her competition may come from experienced Delaware contender Top Thess ridden here by Margaux Collomb in her first race in 2015. These two will be against experienced entries One Hot Chick from the barn of Helen and Warren Shelley, Sam Vasquez entries, Golly Zands and My Vaz Is Hot, and new and promising, RB Cantata. Also in the mix, the other Scott Powell-trained contender, Sand On FireVaz Djets On, Blazing Wings, and Aimee Oakley PW.

The second race, the $47,800 prize money Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup, the Emerald Jewel in the US Triple Jewel series will pit the up and coming Paddys Day 4(3-1-0)1-1 wearing the blue and yellow silks of the Quarter Moon Ranch in stall six against the east coast star, Our Princess from the Cre Run Stables in stall 10. The other eight stalls will start the experienced Sand Victor, ES Mi Cielo, By Golly Its Hot, Twice Rich, RB Moose, Ayers, FastandFurious, and My Caliber aiming for the second Jewel in the Triple Jewel races.

Burning Fleet, winner of the Amethyst Jewel (1st leg of Triple Jewel) will not make the trip to California.

5 July 2015 – Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup – Emerald Jewel Gr 2 is the 2nd leg of the Triple Jewel Series of HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup

Triple Jewel Series:

  • 7 March – Houston Texas (Amethyst Jewel) – winner Burning Fleet
  • 5 July – Pleasanton, California (Emerald Jewel)
  • 19 September – Los Alamitos, California  (Diamond Jewel)
This Triple Jewel Series will offer a BONUS of $150,000 USD to the high point earner over the 3 race series. To earn this high point bonus a horse must run in all three races of this Triple Jewel Series. Horses participating will be awarded 5 points for running, the winner will earn 3 points giving him/her 8 total points for that race.  2nd place finisher will earn 2 points giving him/her 7 total points for that race, 3rd place finisher will earn 1 point giving him/her a total of 6 points. The Triple Jewel Series is run under the umbrella of HH Sheik Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat horse racing Festival.
