Verdora tops field of 13 at Newbury in Wathba Stud Farm Cup

  August 5, 2012 Newbury Race Course UK ~Newbury Wathba Stud Farm Cup Premier Handicap Stakes for Purebred Arabians hit the seventh round in the UK on Sunday August 5.

Details: 10F on Turf 3 yrs old and up 2000m €6,000 prize money and bonus for the winning breeder of the first horse past the post registered to a UK breeder with fewer than five active broodmares.

A top field of 13 horses was in contention and the honors went to Verdora in the winning time of 02:25:42.

Verdora (Dormane x Vert Galante under the able hands of Irish jockey, Jim Crowley, trained by DM Batteate and owned by Mr. JD Kippen. The added prize for breeder went to Mr. & Mrs. J Kippen.

Zaaqya (Al Sakbe x Sophie Du Loup), ridden by Tadhg O’Shea was the going in favorite but was not quite able to withstand the charge. Zaaqya is trained by Gillian Duffield and owned by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin R Al Maktoum.Sophia (Kerbella x Solonge) with Thomas Garner up and trained and owned by B.
